“This is the solstice, the still point

of the sun, its cusp and midnight,

the year’s threshold

and unlocking, where the past

lets go of and becomes the future;

the place of caught breath, the door

of a vanished house left ajar…”

🤍 from the hearth 🤍

Dear friend,

Happy winter solstice! As we embrace this turning point of the year, I’m thrilled by the prospect of longer days ahead. At the same time, though, I have found so much beauty in these long nights, and I will miss the depth of their darkness.

The solstice serves as a gentle reminder that in every shadow, there exists a flicker of light—even if only a flicker. There is no ebb without a flow, no yin without the yang.

In the gentle glow of winter’s night, there is a comforting warmth that permeates even the coldest of corners. As you gather together to celebrate the season, share that warmth and allow your light to guide one another home.

☃️ seasonal selections ☃️

  • Immerse yourself in the enchanting melodies of “White Fire” by Angel Olsen—my all-time favorite song. Its haunting beauty is the perfect soundtrack for tonight’s solstice.

  • For a serene and calming night in, gift yourself this relaxing yoga practice. It’s a lovely way to wind down, settle in, and add some tranquility to your season.

  • These snowball cookies practically melt in your mouth and make for the perfect late-night comfort activity. (Just don’t overbake them like I did!)

  • Witness the wonders of the night sky and discover celestial events happening during the solstice as you embark on a virtual stargazing adventure from the comfort of your cozy space. It’s a magical way to connect with the cosmos on this special night.

🌨 cozy conversations 🌨

Is there a shadow you’ve been wrestling with—a quiet burden you’re ready to release? Use this special winter’s night as an opportunity for self-reflection, an invitation to transmute the dark shadows inside yourself into radiant light.

Thanks for reading, and I do hope you have the snuggest of Thursdays. I have a flight to Memphis tomorrow night, where I’ll spend Christmas with my family. We won’t catch up again until after the festivities, so I hope you have the happiest holiday—whatever you celebrate and wherever you are. <3

Until next week, stay cozy.
