Dear reader,

When I was a child, aging became synonymous with tragedy. With every trip around the sun, I watched as the twinkle faded from the eyes of my family, my friends, my world…

I wanted more. I yearned to know ordinary joys transformed under the touch of extraordinary people. I ached for a life filled with magic at every turn, where glitter was fairy dust and books were portals, and strangers were just friends I hadn’t yet met. I wanted to step out into the world with a sense of whimsy and wonder, not angst and apathy.

Now, as I sit simmering in the life that I’ve created for myself, surrounded by fairy dust and portals and friends, I realize that I refused to let the enchantment of my early years fade into cold oblivion. I’ve become my own beacon of whimsy and wonder.

In the tapestry of winter, I discover a different kind of magic—the kind that weaves its way into the very fabric of everyday moments. It’s a season where homes are transformed into havens of light and laughter and love, and the world takes on a sillier, softer hue.

Winter, with its quiet, crystalline beauty, reminds me that the magic I’ve always yearned for isn’t confined to childhood dreams. It’s an ever-present force, ready to be embraced and shared, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.

• I resonate with Yule much more than Christmas, so I’ve been enchanted by the trending citrus garland. There’s something magical about the vibrant hues of fruits intertwining with winter greenery, adding a touch of nature’s brilliance to the festivities.

• I’ve been utterly smitten with Julia on Max, inspired by the life and culinary adventures of Julia Child. She was such an outrageous, wonderful, and effortlessly confident woman, and she’s brought so much warmth to my windy winter nights.
