“I don’t think existence wants you to be serious. I have not seen a serious tree. I have not seen a serious bird. I have not seen a serious sunrise. I have not seen a serious starry night. It seems they are all laughing in their own ways, dancing in their own ways. We may not understand it, but there is a subtle feeling that the whole existence is a celebration.”

🍑 from the hearth 🍑

Dear friend,

I often find myself shuffling between two modes of being: relentless positivity and existential dread.

In a world that praises turmoil and sneers at tranquility, it’s easy to succumb to feelings of hopelessness and despair. And sometimes, I do.

But then I step outside. I hear a lady laugh or watch a palm tree sway, and life feels silly again. In these moments of serendipity, I am reminded that it’s far easier—far more productive—to be in love with all of life’s joys than to be angry at its shortcomings.

I like to keep these everyday slices of heaven—these ordinary little miracles—in my back pocket, easy to grab and hold onto when I’m feeling blue.

Farmers markets are one of those miracles. Amid the piles of produce, rows of artisanal goods, and cornucopias of camaraderie, a pure and simple joy overcomes me, tickling my spirit and senses.

The market is a celebration of craftsmanship and community—a beautiful rebellion against corporate clutter and supermarket subterfuge.

And the sheer number of farmers markets speaks volumes. It tells me that, now more than ever, people crave genuine connection. In an increasingly digital age filled with clickable validation and superficial interactions, there is a collective yearning for real community.

So this week’s postcard is a celebration of farmers markets and all those who bring creativity and connection to their communities. May they inspire us to do the same.
