“No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace / As I have seen in one autumnal face.”

– John Donne, “Elegy IX: The Autumnal”

🤎 from the hearth 🤎

Dear friend,

Surprise! The first traces of autumn have officially arrived in the land of Snuggery.

I had every intention of holding off for a couple more weeks before fully embracing the most magical season of the year, but I simply couldn’t resist.

Autumn calls to me in a way no other season can, and when I woke to the gentle patter of rain against my window this morning, I knew it was time.

I lit a candle, wrapped myself in a blanket, and decided to make the transition early. The summer sun has its allure, but there’s something about the soft, crisp air of early autumn that feels like coming home.

As it turns out, you can take the girl out of autumn, but you can’t take autumn out of the girl. And I have a feeling that if you’re reading this, you won’t mind my eagerness to usher in the coziest of seasons a bit ahead of schedule.

This year, I have so many delightful ideas for our little autumn postcard. While I love that I get to write for work, I’ve missed indulging in creative pursuits purely for pleasure.

So this season, I’m committed to reclaiming that joy, and I can’t wait to share it with you. In the weeks to come, you’ll see a mix of my own autumn creations alongside inspiring finds from fellow artisans. Let’s savor this season together.

🍂 seasonal selections 🍂

  • One of my favorite ways to prepare for autumn is by refreshing my wardrobe with a cozy matching pajama set that captures the spirit of the season. This orange gingham set is simply adorable, and nothing screams “autumn” quite like plaid flannel. Whether you’re a fan of matching sets or prefer to swap an old tee for a festive one, there’s something about slipping into seasonally inspired sleepwear that makes those chilly nights feel even snugger.

  • Another simple way to embrace the season is by changing your ringtone or alarm to something that feels autumnal. I personally love "There She Goes" by The La's—its calming melody reminds me of those perfect fall days that Gilmore Girls captures so well.

  • And finally, if you don’t already have one, get yourself a library card! Browsing through bookoos of books is one of the most autumnal activities there is, and supporting your local library means supporting one of our last true third places. It’s a chance to slow down, browse the shelves, and discover something new, all while relaxing in a space that fosters community—and it’s usually free (or very affordable). If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the options, ask the librarian for a recommendation, and see where the story takes you.

📙 spectacular vernacular 📙

Shivelight [shiv-ul-ite] (n.) • Old English

  1. the gleam of sunlight that filters through the canopy of trees, especially during early autumn when the leaves begin to fall

The shivelight danced across the forest floor, a quiet reminder of the lingering warmth before the cold sets in.

🌰 cozy conversations 🌰

As the first signs of autumn arrive, how do you prepare yourself—mind, body, and heart—for the quiet changes ahead? What small rituals help you feel grounded as the days grow shorter and cooler?

Thanks for reading, and I do hope you have the snuggest of Thursdays. I’m headed to the library this weekend. <3

Until next time, stay cozy.
